http://www.tinahasit.com/tfol/20100319.txt Everything was recycled. From manure, to fireplace ashes, to discarded vegetables. If we had a dress with wore out sleeves, we cut the top off and made a new skirt. We made sac purses from wore out old leather purses by taking the fancy clasps off and using the leather part. We re-used the soles of our sandals and made new tops with macrame. Our creativity had no limits. We make necklaces out of apple seeds, spent hours with tiny needle and sore fingers to string the little seeds, when the stringing was done we painted the new necklace and wore it with pride. We found a use for everything nature put at our disposal. We did not know the meaning of the word boredom. We knitted, crocheted, embroidered. Everything we created added to our satisfaction and pride. No one was the same. creativity also establishes a specific personality. We never saw another girl wearing what we had on because we created it. Our attire was not a marketing object. It was our individuality. Still today I found ways to create a new fashion from old clothes. I just took a beautiful leather coat apart that became to tight at the shoulders and I am in the process of making a panel skirt using the leather that attached from the waste down. I save old fur collars and make fur hats from them. That is what makes me.- ME- and distinguishes me from the masses. I have people never seen before stop me to comment about my wears and I love it. When beauty fades with age our individuality will stay alive and attract as much as beauty did.
